Angelina Baltazar is an undergraduate majoring in Biomedical Engineering and minoring in Neuroscience at Texas A&M University. She is extremely passionate about researching stem-cell treatments for neurodegenerative disorders and currently works in Dr. Jennifer Dulin’s lab working on the use of stem cells for treating spinal cord injury. Angelina's independent project analyzes how transplanted neural stem cell grafts in spinal cord injury are impacted from 6 weeks to 6 months, which will be published within a year. After graduating from Texas A&M in May 2024, she has intentions to pursue a Ph.D. in Neuroscience. Outside of the lab, Angelina is a huge advocate for increasing representation in the STEM field by communicating her research journey and creating academic opportunities at Texas A&M. She decided to create this podcast so she could share the resources she used, document her journey as she begins applying for a PhD program, and be a role model for other women of color. In her free time, Angelina loves to bake, paint, and cuddle with her cat.
